Today is all about the in between. The fade from light to dark. The edge of two seasons. The shift from one frame of mind to the next. The Winter solstice marks the shortest day. It’s the time of year in the Northern Hemisphere when the dawn lingers a little longer across the sky, and the sun urges a bit more eagerly towards setting. Today, you might have noticed your shadow lingering a little longer at noon. This was your call, my friend. It was our call. A gentle reminder that our Earth is titled in orbit; that humans are in constant shift between seasons, thoughts, actions. This tilt is what drives us forward, literally and spiritually. It is has us at the ready to fight, or to flight. And today, at 10:48 CST we have the chance to take an honest look at what the hell we’ve been fighting for; what we will fight for. From November 22nd to today, the Sun laid some ground work for the New Year in the sign of Sagittarius. Here, there was a shift in focus from a need to connect intimately with another person, to ourselves. Now, the desire to reach out and connect with something larger is at the center. If you have not had the opportunity, take time to understand and become more aware of the world around you. This will look different for everyone, and however you decide to tap in is an act of courage. Use this courage to fuel your continued expansion, and inspire new ways of thinking.
On the crux of this, the Sun has made its way into Capricorn and will be here from December 21st to January 20th. It has already started the process of building off of the ground laid over the last month. The shape of this is calling us to establish the bones of the structure we most desire to manifest. Capricorn is a master of self-motivation. It understands that responsibility, ambition, and respect for order are often necessary for accomplishing the task at hand. Structure and standards and tangible results are the main messages here. This moment can help us understand what is feasible, and what is not. In this moment, be an artist. Chisel away until a soulful framework appears. Notice every angle, soft or hard. Claim these as creative expressions. See yourself reflected in the making.
When there is a great shift, the edge becomes so much more apparent. Let’s try to meet the edge with grace, and see it for what it is—a point of reference that can and will shift, but can also mark where we’ve been. There is a big picture that wants our attention, ultimately asking us to start building our fires, if we have yet to do so. In the fire, our faith, hope, and vision burn strong. Tend to your fires my friends. It’s going to be a long haul.
