When it comes to aesthetics, I often look to the works of photographers I admire for inspiration. I am particularly drawn to picture-makers who push the envelope by creating work with a strong message about culture, identity, and justice. Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite contemporary portraits. I believe these portraits help to reshape our ideas about visual culture, and who to gets defines it.
