Freestyle Friday: Volume 15

Freestyle Friday Volume 15When it comes to aesthetics, I often look to the works of photographers I admire for inspiration. I am particularly drawn to picture-makers who push the envelope by creating work with a strong message about culture, identity, and justice. Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite contemporary portraits. I believe these portraits help to reshape our ideas about visual culture, and who to gets defines it.

Make sure to check out the interview with RJ Eldridge (image featured bottom right), an up and coming photographer from Chicago, in the latest issue of Black Girl in Om!

In solidarity,

Christian
