The Power of Small Business

IMG_0517-0.JPG December is here, can you believe it? There are so many reasons to get overwhelmed and stressed during during the holidays. I think it is especially true this year. It’s been a tough one for many us, and I don’t think the momentum of radical change is slowing down any time soon. Although it is challenging, there is also a lot of positive and powerful activism happening around the world. From Ferguson, to Ayotzinapa, we are standing up and resisting violence on a macro and micro level. And that is something to believe in!

I have also noticed a lot of small businesses start to unite their collective energy. Black, and Brown owned storefronts and online shops are reminding people how important it is to invest their money consciously. Our energy is currency. We are more than consumers. We are investors, whom can consider our buying power a form of activism.

As you know, I have my own online shops for jewelry and photography. Today, you can purchase products created with my photos on Society6 with free worldwide shipping, plus $5 off all items! This is a one-day sale, so make sure to stop by as soon as possible. I just added new products like this pillow, and this tote and this iPhone cover! So fun! While you’re around, check out some of the other awesome shops on the site! Even if you are not able to buy, liking and sharing my work is just as meaninful. I appreciate you, and thank you in advance for your support!

If we think about how fast months go by, but how much we are able to get done within 30 days, it can be a source of strong motivation. Speed, and productivity are only a part of the story. Quality and thoughtfulness go a long way, too. Margaret Mead reminds us of this in her infamous quote:

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

In Solidarity,
